Les enjeux sécuritaires du stress hydrique en Europe du Sud
Info
As part of the Observatoire Défense et Climat (Defence and Climate Observatory), conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate General for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS), IRIS is pleased to invite you to a symposium organised as part of the Observatory’s note feedback.
Debates took place in French.
► French Armies faced with water stress: issues, challenges and prospects for adaptation
Researchers and representatives of the Ministry of the Armed Forces will discuss the impact of water stress in southern Europe on French armies. They will look at the challenges for military bases, for the health of soldiers and for operations, as well as the associated prospects for cooperation and adaptation. Finally, the consideration given to these issues by the armies of our European neighbours will be examined.
► Will climate change exacerbate conflicts over water management in EU member states around the Mediterranean?
This round-table discussion will look at how drought and water stress could prove to be crisis factors, from both a national and a transnational perspective. How can water management policies and the specific characteristics of the various countries of southern Europe exacerbate or, on the contrary, mitigate the risks of conflicts of use? What are the consequences for human safety and national security?
